Cultural Diversity

I understand that cultural diversity of children enhances their learning environment through their different perspectives. It will also let children see their unique individuality, and at the same time discover that they have also a lot in common as human beings. Since the role of cultural diversity is part of our life, through establishing harmonious classroom of diversity, children will get prepared for their diverse outside world.


In the picture, Jenna Ott was presenting on her cultural card, around which had the square candies with different color wraps. She explained that they represents us human beings who have different skin colors, and unique cultural backgrounds and personalities. However, as humans we all share a lot inside. Her cultural cards highlight to me that as the difference nationalities, we do have dissimilar perspectives and upbringings, but we also do have in common things such as love for family and desire for peace. This cultural diversity brings important opportunity to learn from each other in classrooms as well as in life. Then wonderfully we discover human potentials that one cultural or person does not notice before. So this picture well appears to me an education goal to understand the importance and role of cultural diversity.
